About Me
Hi, I'm Kenny Zalar, the occupational therapist behind Continuity Occupational Therapy. I bring a wealth of experience to my work, having served individuals of all ages within diverse settings such as schools, medical facilities, community organizations, and vocational programs. This diverse background allows me to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
As a school-based occupational therapist, I recognize that every individual has unique needs and that a holistic approach is crucial for developing highly personalized treatment plans and supports that facilitate function and independence.
One of the most significant realizations during my years as a school-based occupational therapist was the frequent lack of continuity of care and ongoing support available to children and adolescents, even during their school years, and especially beyond graduation. This can lead to plateaus, slower-than-expected development, or even regression, particularly for those with complex needs.
I've witnessed firsthand the frustration of seeing children make strides in school-based OT, only to have those gains stall or diminish due to limited access to supplemental services. This is why I'm passionate about providing additional, individualized OT support for my clients. These extra services can bridge the gap between school-based therapy and home life, reinforcing learned skills, addressing emerging challenges, and preventing regression, ultimately maximizing their potential for growth and independence. This continued support is crucial for ensuring that the progress made in school translates into real-world success, both now and as they transition into adulthood.
Recognizing this significant gap in care, I founded Continuity OT. We are dedicated to providing ongoing occupational therapy services tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Our focus is on developing essential academic skills, independent living skills, self-care skills, self-regulation skills, community integration, vocational readiness, and much more.
